A step further in taking care of technology – the story of DMG MORI
03.06.2024Financial advantages as a deciding factor
Simple management of device fleet
Up-to-date and protected IT equipment
Stephanie Pradeau, IT & Process Manager at DMG MORI, explains how BNP Paribas 3 Step IT supports her organisation in the more sustainable management of their tech assets.
Can you tell us more about DMG MORI?
DMG MORI is a leading global manufacturer of high-precision machine tools. We employ 12,000 people across 88 countries and 113 sites worldwide. DMG MORI has 170 employees in France across 4 agencies (Paris, Nantes, Toulouse, Lyon).
More than 120 technicians and sales representatives travel the roads to ensure the sale, installation, training, and maintenance of turning and milling machines from the 14 production plants worldwide. The machines meet the needs of various markets such as aerospace, automotive, medical, as well as moulds and dies for everyday items.
What challenges are you facing today?
Our profession is increasingly moving towards robotisation and digitalisation. Additionally, a large portion of our employees is highly mobile in both French and North African territories, and many staff work from home regularly.
We have long equipped our employees with laptops that we replace every three years (the duration of the warranty negotiated with the manufacturer), as well as smartphones and tablets. These devices evolve rapidly, and it seemed logical for us to no longer purchase such assets but to lease them.
What does the relationship with BNP Paribas 3 Step IT bring you? How does our “IT CARE” equipment protection service meet your needs?
Initially, the choice was purely financial. We quickly realised the other benefits: entrusting the refurbishment of devices we no longer use to the expertise of BNP Paribas 3 Step IT, having always up-to-date and protected equipment in case of damage, and a more sustainable IT management.
As an IT manager, I use the BNP Paribas 3 Step IT client portal all the time. I enjoy the simplicity of procurement, richness of data, ease of managing the fleet and exports, and especially the handling of claims directly online.
As mentioned earlier, our employees are very mobile, and unfortunately it is very easy to drop a tablet or close a laptop on a USB drive and damage the screen.
IT Care, the equipment protection service offered by BNP Paribas 3 Step IT, therefore seemed obvious to us right away. It is very quick to report a claim on the portal, and since we always use the same services to repair our computers, the transmission of information happens very smoothly and efficiently. No budget surprises either!
In conclusion, how do you think this relationship will evolve in the years to come?
This partnership is meant to last. Perhaps with new technological equipment – we never know what the future holds, so there will certainly be new needs in the future… that we cannot imagine today!
